SBS Brochure Illustration

Last year I started to work on a brochure design for a client, who was striving a fresh and modern look for his company. It’s a software business that creates software to visualize products, either online or offline, mostly for customers from the building and construction sector. This brochure is for a program they created, that helps landscape architects to create mock-ups for their customers. They can design directly on a photograph (in 3D), as the program can calculate the perspective out of the image. It’s pretty awesome.

In order to show the potential and diversity of the software, I created an isometric world with bright colours and lots of textures. I wanted it to look illustrated yet at the same time a bit realistic. The client also wanted to make sure, that his customers don’t think that he is selling some kind of Sims rip-off or that they could only design landscapes in Sims-Style. Therefore we came up with the idea of texturing parts of the illustration with their own textures. I love the result.

Later he also asked me to change the imagery on his homepage. I took the old ideas of the pictures and adapted them to the new style. I think the results are quite neat. I like this glowing effect. Makes the pictures pop out of the website.

Ovid Metamorphoses

This picture really was a hard piece of work. The most expensive project I have ever done for the university, and a lot of problems during its process that almost impeded the shooting. Fortunately it turned out quite pleasant and even though I was running late I enjoyed the shooting a lot.

The picture itself is my personal hommage to Roman poet Ovid with his masterpiece “Metamorphoses”. I tried to combine several stories in one picture; each one pictured by one of the objects in the composition. The objects itself are modern day symbols that I created by reducing the storyline to its main-metamorphosis. I have to admit, that soome of them are quite tricky to get. The selection of the stories was merely by my liking and some famous tales that everybody has heard of somehow. Enjoy.

Petra

This is an older portrait of a friend of mine that I found in my archives the other day. I decided to post it here, because I always liked the simplicity of it. I think I got her personality just right – hopefully she does think so aswell =)

Knotted Gun Stockholm

During this years summer I was traveling around the scandinavian countries and I found this striking sculpture from Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd called "Knotted Gun" (a peace project inspired by John Lennon's death) in Malmö / Sweden. Later in Stockholm I found another replica of the same monument and there was this young swedish girl resting on it, totally unimpressed by the tourist trying to take pictures of it while avoiding to get her in the frame. I decided that her presence gives the whole picture a rather pleasant twist so I included her in my picture.
